Content is King. We say it all the time…because it’s true! Content is what attracts people to your brand or message and it is what keeps people coming back for more. However, just because content is king doesn’t mean it should be hard. In fact, if you are a CARFAX dealer then getting good social content just got easier. CARFAX and SOCIALDEALER have teamed up to help provide CARFAX dealers with free engaging social content that can be used on your dealership Facebook page, Google+ page, and Twitter feed. The process is fully automated and you, the dealer, has control over which content appears on your streams. How it Works About 2 times per week, CARFAX and SOCIALDEALER put together a piece of content meant for your dealership’s social channels. As a registered dealer you receive an email each time a new piece is available asking you to APPROVE or DENY the post. By choosing approve, the content is then automatically published to the social streams, giving your fans and followers a chance to enjoy. Proven Success CARFAX and SOCIALDEALER have been testing this approach for more than 6 months, with terrific success. With only a small sample of a few hundred dealers, more than 75 unique posts have been distributed across Facebook pages and Twitter profiles and viewed by more than 800,000 people producing more than 35,000 clicks (comments, likes, and shares). To take advantage of this opportunity and put free CARFAX content to use for you on your dealership pages and profiles, click the link below to get started. Simply follow the onscreen instructions and you will soon receive emails asking you to approve or deny for your channels.

Facebook has begun testing its new Status Composer, a feature designed to push users to get more detailed and expressive with their status updates and how they actually feel. As shown below, when creating an update, Facebook will display an array of categories such as “feeling,” “listening to,” or “drinking.” The user can then choose a specific sub-category within that category, or create his own. Why does this matter at the dealership level? If Facebook decides to move forward with this advanced status composer, giving customers a great experience will be more important than ever. From sale to service, customers can soon begin sharing their feelings about your dealership while checking in to the location or anytime after their visit. This new feature, paired with Facebook Graph Search will boost your visibility to potential customers and allow for feedback from current customers Using these behaviors in Facebook status updates may also lead to a more specific Facebook Ad targeting. For example, if you’re watching American Hot Rods on TV and leave a comment about it on Facebook using the “watching” status, Facebook could potentially target you with an ad about a Classic Car Convention at your local dealership. In preparation for this potential change, SOCIALDEALER suggests the following, which will maximize your Facebook influence in current and potential customer searches: Instead of uploading images of your customers car purchases in a “Our Happy Customers” album, have the customer upload the picture using his or her personal account and tag the dealership Continue to push customers to check-in while at your dealership. You can reward this action with a coupon or discounted service, using Facebook Offers Along with pushing recommendations on Google and Yelp sites, ask customers to recommend you on your dealership Facebook Page Make sure all categories of your dealership are filled out in the About and Basic Info categories of your Facebook page

There is no doubt today that content is king. But what is content, really? Yelp.com sees more that 84 million people each month and houses over 33 million reviews of local businesses. These ratings and reviews, or CONTENT, have quickly become significant factors not necessarily for choosing with whom to do business but for eliminating. And while Google+ Local has made strides in the realm of reputation, Yelp.com has effectively made it’s name the most relevant in the field. We recently released our Yelp Help Guide that explains how to respond to reviews and updating your listing. But did you know there is more to Yelp than just ratings and reviews? Yelp.com is also a directory, or a local search tool, where just like on Google where you want to come up high in the search results you want to show up front and center on Yelp. Yelp Enhanced Listings help make that happen. Not only do you show up, but also you stand out. In an upcoming On Air Hangout with SOCIALDEALER President Phil Penton we will be discussing the Help Guide and the benefits of maintaining your Yelp listing. More importantly though we will be discussing the benefits of a Yelp Enhanced Listing. With a Yelp Enhanced Listing you benefit from: Enhanced Photo Slideshow Directory Info Cleanup Ability to Post Special Offers Removal of Banner Ads Removal of Competitor Ads Extended Business Info Section Increased visibility in local search Yelp Enhanced Listings receive more views from users and more appearances in searches, giving you maximum exposure to this valuable audience. Best of all, an enhanced listing does not cost you that much either. In fact, as an auto dealer I imagine you will be pleasantly surprised at the tremendous value a Yelp Enhanced Listing has to offer. To learn more about how a Yelp Enhanced Listing can benefit your dealership, sign up today to receive our free information kit that explains all the benefits of an enhanced listing.

With a Yelp Enhanced Listing you benefit from:

Enhanced Photo Slideshow
Directory Info Cleanup
Ability to Post Special Offers
Removal of Banner Ads
Removal of Competitor Ads
Extended Business Info Section
Increased visibility in local search

Yelp Enhanced Listings receive more views from users and more appearances in searches, giving you maximum exposure to this valuable audience.

Yelp sees more than 84 million monthly unique visitors, holding over 33 million reviews, and the most relevant results in mobile searches. In addition, Phil will also explain how Yelp Enhanced Listings work and how you can take advantage of the local directory listings on Yelp.com, an important element to not only your reputation strategy but also your search strategy.
Responding to reviews. It’s important. If someone came into your dealership and started telling your customers about a bad experience he or she had wouldn’t you want a chance to intervene? What if someone came in and started talking about what a good choice you are compared to the competition, wouldn’t you want to say thank you? The only difference between this and when someone reviews your dealership on Yelp is that on Yelp more people see it, often times more quickly, and the effects last longer because they are always online. Yelp is the leading website when it comes to rating and reviewing companies, and Yelp reviews are beginning to have a significant effect on dealers now too. Yelp sees more than 84 million monthly unique visitors, holding over 33 million reviews, and the most relevant results in mobile searches. Going by the notion that auto shoppers use reviews to eliminate dealerships (as opposed to choosing one), making your dealership’s Yelp listing an attractor for new business and not a deterrent should be a top priority. The first and most important step in helping your Yelp page is responding to reviews. It helps you show appreciation to customers who praise you and allows you to respond to those who post negative feedback. By responding to negative reviews you show that you want to give your customers the best experience you can and fix things when they go wrong. “Negative reviews provide you with opportunities to learn about vulnerabilities and weaknesses in your dealership. They also help identify rogue employees.” – Joe Castle, CEO, Castle Auto Group To help you tackle this challenge we are providing you with a free Yelp Help Guide. In this guide we show you how to respond to reviews on Yelp with either a public response or a private message, plus how to update your page’s information and photos.
In a world of ever-changing ways to communicate it is imperative that companies find ways to cut through the noise and get their message across to their audiences. Sticking with what has worked in the past is often a good strategy, unless those tactics are losing ground. Email has long been an effective tool, but with people’s inboxes filling up each more and more each day with less-than-important noise, email is becoming an increasingly more difficult means to this end. Social Media too has proven it can be effective and will likely to have longevity, but already we are becoming hardened to the volume of non-important noise and messages that comes across our newsfeeds and timelines on a day-to-day basis. Despite being a company that offers a platform for auto dealers to manage their Social Media efforts, we at SOCIALDEALER recognize that Social has its limitations as well. Fortunately there is a relatively new tool out there that gives people and organizations a way to get through to their audiences. It’s called Google+ Hangout On Air and if you haven’t yet taken the plunge into this new platform then there is no better time than now to do so because SOCIALDEALER is taking to the On Air frequency as a way to bring ever more value to its own tribe of Social Media gurus, novices, and wannabes. What is Hangout On Air? A Google+ Hangout is essentially an online meeting room complete with audio and video capabilities that make it possible for a small group of people (up to 10) to interact with one another as if they were all sitting in the same room together. The Hangout is supported by your web browser and no plugins or applets are required. What’s unique about Google+ Hangout is that while a live video thumbnail of each person is displayed at the bottom of the Hangout window, a larger display sits above these thumbnails showing a live feed of the person doing the talking. As each person chimes into the conversation, Hangout automatically displays this person in the larger window, switching around from person to person much like the cameras do in a studio setting, bringing the person presently talking to the forefront on your TV screen. The “on air” aspect of this is optional. As the host of a Hangout you have the option to broadcast the Hangout live on your YouTube channel for anyone else to watch. In fact you can even embed the YouTube video code onto a page on your website for people to watch their instead. While the folks watching the live On Air broadcast can not participate in the Hangout discussion itself, Google+ broadcaster have learned to use Twitter and G+ hashtags that allow people to chime in via these social mediums to ask questions, respond to the discussion, Tweet soundbytes from the show, and more.

Welcome Social Trends On Air

What began as a newsletter a few years ago and soon afterwards also a blog, Social Trends is now expanding its horizons and reach into the world of #HOA, or Hangout On Air. Beginning March 2013, SOCIALDEALER will be launching a series of On Air broadcasts for all to see.

These broadcasts will be designed to educate the automotive audience about things going on at SOCIALDEALER that benefit our dealers and partners. Our Hangouts will introduce new partnerships, unveil our latest innovations, and train and coach people about best practices that we apply with our dealers. Most importantly these Hangouts will not only be educational but also fun and entertaining too.

In the beginning we will run a live #HOA every other week on Friday’s at Noon CST. You will be able to watch these broadcasts from the new Social Trends On Air page on our website.

The Hangouts will be conducted co-hosts Zach Betz and Ryan Gerardi who are leading the way here at SOCIALDEALER with this new approach to educating our audience. Most Hangouts will include at least one or two guests that will be announced prior to each broadcast in the form of a blog post, so be sure to subscribe to the Social Trends blog if you want to receive email alerts each time we announce a show.

During each broadcast viewers will be able to Tweet us using the hashtag #SocialTrendsOnAir to join in on the fun and ask questions and what not. In fact, we want to encourage our fans to Tweet that hashtag between shows to help build awareness around it and chime in about Social Trends while we are off air.

Ways to Join the Fun

To join in on all the fun you have a few options:

Option A.) Subscribe via email to the Social Trends blog. You will receive an email alert each time we update our blog, including show announcements.

Option B.) RSVP to the Social Trends On Air Google+ Event page. This is a one-time action that will put the event in your Google calendar, send you reminders, and also updates we make to the event page.

Option C.) LIKE the SOCIALDEALER Facebook page and keep an eye out for invites to the events we create for each show. This will put SOCIALDEALER Facebook activity into your newsfeed and give you a chance to RSVP to each individual event. Because of the way Facebook events work you would have to RSVP to each event invitation for each show.
